“Narvik offers a great lifestyle”
Matthew Homola, PhD in cybernetics. Nordkraft engineer.
Born and raised in the state of Washington, US. Finished his PhD in Narvik. Now Matthew has been living in Narvik since 2003.
Living: “Narvik is easy living. All the urban qualities you need. Schools, kindergarden, training and the city – everything is so close.”
Ice hockey: I train once a week in Nordkraft Arena with friends. And this year the local team won a promotion to the highest level of Norwegian ice hockey. That probably means a packed arena every home game next season.
The light: It´s actually more light here than back in the US. The sunsets lasts for hours due to the high latitude. And you never get tired of them.
Work: My PhD research was on wind power in cold climate – and now I work with wind turbines.
